An Afternoon with Mixed Media Artist Soror Alease Michelle

With such a diverse group of women, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. has arguably some of the most talented people as members. This afternoon I began an online search for artwork to add "atmosphere" to my home and ran across a mixed media art site. www.aleasemichelle.etsy.com. Low and behold...the artist, Alease Michelle, is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho

So I had to snag her for a quick interview for the Sophisticate...Enjoy!

NERS: Soror, how did you get started?

AM: I was an art major in college, so art has been in my system for a very long time. It really did not bloom until I started working as an instructor at The Art Institute of Charlotte. Working around talented students and teachers inspired me to work on a few collages and then I would enter a few pieces in the faculty show. After that I started creating a few pieces, I had a solo show - Out of 15 pieces I sold 10 collages. And most of the pieces where brought by my peers. I was so excited. So ever since then I have been creating mixed media collages.

NERS:Do you have other Sigma inspired pieces?

AM: I have few ideas that are in my sketch in book but they have not made it to canvas yet, but with this response I plan to do a few.

NERS:How can we purchase pieces of your work?
